Complete Guide to Eating Out at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Where to eat out while on holiday is high on every travelers agenda and the traveler to Victoria Falls is certainly no exception. There is definitely no shortage of choice it is just a matter of knowing where and what is available

The hotel where you are staying, will have an onsite restaurant of its own, however if you are staying for more than a few of days you might well want to eat out somewhere else. It's quite possible that your hotel restaurant is not to your taste. So it is definitely a good idea to know some other options.

As there are so many lodges and hotels in Victoria Falls there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, many of them being really world class.

Fine dining can be found at the highly acclaimed Livingstone Room in the Victoria Falls Hotel, at the Palm Restaurant in Ilala Lodge or at award winning Makuwa-Kuwa restaurant in the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.

Dotted around the town center, not situated in a hotel, there are a couple restaurants. These are mostly informal cafés serving light meals throughout the day. Mama Africa has an evening menu as well as a good reputation.

Casual restaurants for a good quick meal during the day include the Victoria Falls Bridge Café, the In-da-belly restaurant in the Victoria Falls rest camp, the Jacana café in the Elephant Walk shopping center and the African Hide Restaurant in the Landela center.

If you are a little more adventurous and are interested in doing something slightly different to eating at normal restaurant, then I would suggest these options. The sunset and dinner cruise is a very popular evening out. As the name suggests, you get to enjoy a Zambezi River sunset cruise but instead of coming in after sunset as most of the other cruises do, you stay out on the river and get treated to a 3 course dinner.

Another idea is the night drive and bush dinner. You go on a late afternoon game drive followed by a night drive, where you get to see many of the unusual nocturnal critters. Afterwards sit down to enjoy a specially prepared meal under the African night sky.

If you feel like really treating yourself, then a moonlit dinner run on a beautifully restored steam train is ideal for you.

The train first heads for Sundowners on the Victoria Falls Bridge. After sunset, the steam train slowly puffs its way south into the Zambezi National Park where it stops and you get to savour a sumptuous dinner under the stars. After dessert traditional dancers are sent to entertain you.

So as you can see there are some exciting options available, plus there are more than twenty Victoria Falls restaurants to choose from. Happy dining
