Mana Pools National Park
General Information
Mana Pools National Park is located in the Mashonaland West province in the extreme north of Zimbabwe. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is one of the least developed safari parks in the country, and also one of the most remote.
Mana, meaning “four” in Shona refers to the four large watering holes formed by the Zambezi River. The National Park has the highest concentration of hippos and crocodiles in Zimbabwe ensuring much holiday excitement!
Mana Pools National Park at over 2 000km2 is a photographers dream! Lush forest, Baobabs and plenty of wildlife and landscape – an all-round excellent holiday experience. The largest of the four pools is “Long Pool”, which along with crocodiles and hippos is also a popular watering hole for elephants. A walking safari is a great way to walk safely through the bush with an informative guide.
Temperatures soar here in the summer months reaching highs nearing 40 deg C’s therefore the best times to visit would really be from March to August when the temperature is moderate and comfortable for hiking and safaris.
